What skills and experience we're looking for
The Directors of Blackdown Education Partnership are seeking to appoint a Teacher of English to join our school from September 2024. This vacancy would be particularly suitable for an ECT, but RQTs and more experienced teachers are also welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will be, or have the potential to be, an outstanding teacher who inspires a keen interest in English in students and who is able to deliver the exceptional results which we have come to expect from our students. A full contribution to our extensive extra-curricular programme will be expected. Uffculme is a flourishing, popular, high performing School located on the beautiful Devon/Somerset border with easy motorway access to the regional centres of Taunton and Exeter. We are fully comprehensive and committed to inclusion.
In 2024 our Progress 8 score was +0.50 and our Basics E&M 9-5 was 62% and Basics E&M 9-4 was 83%, maintaining our track-record as being one of the highest performing non-selective schools. Consequently, we have received many national awards and accolades over recent times in recognition of the quality of the education provided here at Uffculme.
Within this context, the English Department is one of the flagship departments of the school where approximately 90% of students achieving a Grade 4 or higher in English.
