The role involves regularly measuring clinical outcomes and providing evidence-based clinical interventions, in accordance with the CYP-IAPT program.
The incumbent must possess a CWP qualification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice) or equivalent, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, attitude, and capabilities to function effectively within an inclusive, value-driven service.
The role demands the consistent delivery of a "client-focused" service that promotes excellent customer service and fosters effective working relationships.
Main duties of the job
As a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP), you hold a unique role in triaging patients according to their needs and directing them to other services, including voluntary services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The postholder will collaborate with a broader team dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their families and carers by:
1. Establishing connections with other services to ensure children and young people are referred to the most appropriate services for their needs.
2. Communicating effectively with children, young people, and their families and carers during the referral process.
3. Identifying services that can offer continued support after therapy concludes, such as youth groups.
4. Developing a mutual understanding of which referrals are appropriate for CAMHS.

They will regularly measure clinical outcomes and administer evidence-based clinical interventions, in accordance with the CYP-IAPT programme.
The post holder must possess a CWP qualification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice) or equivalent, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and capabilities to function effectively within an inclusive, value-driven service.

Key Responsibilities:
1. The appointee will deliver clinical interventions within the care pathways under the supervision of a senior psychological practitioner.
2. They will regularly measure clinical outcomes in accordance with the CYP-IAPT program.
3. They will promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people, and families in the community through evidence-based clinical interventions.
4. They will conduct initial assessments in community settings and provide a range of early interventions for children and young people with various emotional and behavioural difficulties.
5. They will offer direct services to children, young people, and their families in an accessible and non-stigmatizing environment, grounded in the best research evidence and within clinical governance.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
* Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr Children's Wellbeing Practitioner course.
* Appropriate registration with either the BABCP or BPS as a low intensity practitioner.
Experience
* Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
* Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with mental health problems.
* Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of assessment carried out autonomously in order to determine the most appropriate treatment plan from a range of options for the child/young person.
* Experience of providing individual interventions with a wide variety of children and young people, from 3 to 19 years old.
* Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts.
* Experience of working in mental health or related services with agreed targets in place to demonstrate outcomes.
Knowledge
* An awareness of NHS priorities and knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term clinical interventions in CAMHS.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies.
* Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks, evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines.
* Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety.
Skills
* Basic awareness of IT and IT skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively highly complex and sensitive matters to patients, which give rise to psychological distress.
* Ability to integrate complex clinical information into a coherent formulation.
* Skill in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside CAMHS.
* Ability to tolerate anxiety without recourse to premature action whilst appreciating the role of the supervisor.
* Capacity to work alone, involving colleagues and manager as relevant.
* Capacity to write clear records and observe policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Ability to plan and organise own workload and time.
* Ability to use outcome monitoring across all clinical work.
