Job summary We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated, forward thinking Practice Business Manager to lead our dedicated team here at Beechwood Medical Centre. The successful candidate will eventually ensure the efficient management of all our resources, the delivery of top-tier healthcare services, and the ongoing development of our strategic, business goals. Although not initially, you will eventually be responsible for overseeing financial operations, managing staff and HR, and driving change within the practice to maintain and enhance our high service quality. The candidate will also be a board member of the North Halifax PCN and will need to contribute to the working of this key operation. We are looking for a leader and someone who can lead as well as manage. Main duties of the job Strategic Leadership: Lead the practice in strategic and operational planning, ensuring alignment with our long-term goals Drive change management initiatives to enhance practice performance and patient care Prepare and present business development plans (where needed) to the Partnership Act as a focal point for clinicians and administration and ensure we have a happy and focused team, working a sensible work/life balance Champion the practice, its values, and its presence in the community People Management: Manage HR operations, ensuring staff are supported, motivated, and able to perform to their best abilities. Act as a HR lead and advisor for the North Halifax PCN Ensure smooth daily operations (through the Practice Operations Manager), enabling patients to access high-quality care Resource Management: Monitor and manage financial resources, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, bank accounts and maximizing income Optimise the use of physical resources, addressing any issues with premises or facilities promptly and keeping the premises to a good and clean standard Quality Improvement: Ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission standards and other clinical governance requirements and aim to be the best Regular clinical meeting, financial meetings, training, and practice meeting About us Beechwood Medical Centre is a training practice of about 10,000 patients. We are very forward thinking and have spent the past few years developing the team, both clinical and non-clinical to deliver a great service. We are a single site practice. We are rated by the CQC as a GOOD practice, and we are committed to delivering the type of general practice expected by our patients We have a great mix of clinical staff working at our surgery including 2 partners, 3 salaried GPs an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a Physician Associate as well as a team of Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistant. We also have an FY2 doctor and 2 x Registrar doctors. We have a great administration team led by the Practice Operations Management. We are very proud of what we have achieved and what we currently deliver but we now want a new Manager to start and take the practice to the next level. The current Practice Business Manager will be semi retiring and handing the practice over in a very good place and ready for the next new journey. We anticipate the new Practice Manager will start with 3 days a week and gradually step up to full time as the current practice manager leaves the practice. We anticipate this could take 2-3 years of gradual handover. This position would therefore suit someone who is currently running a small practice and wanting to step up to a bigger role or perhaps someone who is not from General Practice and wanting to learn the role from a very experienced manager.
