An amazing new job opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Clinical Psychologist to work in an excellent learning disability service based in the Kendal, Cumbria area. You will be working for one of the UK's leading health care providers.
This service provides a specialist provision with enhanced levels of support which allows people with continuing challenging behaviour and high support needs to be cared for in the least restrictive setting possible, but within a service which is robust and structured enough to meet their ongoing needs and risks.
To be considered for this position you must be registered with the HCPC, BPS accredited, and a Chartered Member of the BPS.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Participating in the assessment of referrals, and providing initial assessment for service users referred to the service.
2. Undertaking high-quality direct (assessment & therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory, and evaluative) specialist psychological interventions and making autonomous clinical decisions.
3. Working therapeutically with service users with complex presentations, undertaking assessments using a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods.
4. Formulating and implementing plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of patients' mental health needs based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice.
5. Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and care.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
1. Understanding of evidence-based psychological practice.
2. Experience of applying psychological knowledge to a clinical/neuro context.
3. Experience working with clients with cognitive deficits.
4. Previous experience of conducting research and project work.
