Naz has a particular expertise working with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in London, and as part of this role you will be targeting these communities in the three boroughs. Your work will include outreach with diverse groups of marginalised communities including sex workers, people experiencing homelessness, people with Learning Disabilities, and people with histories of substance use. This role will focus on work with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities across the three boroughs. Due to this focus, the first role is only open to people who positively identify as having Black, Asian or other Global Majority ethnicity, or dual/multiple heritage including this. (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1). You will work with target population groups, utilising your cultural insight of the communities to build trust, maximise engagement and provide accessible services. Health promotion activities will include Point-Of-Care Rapid HIV Testing, providing brief information, advice and support to people about sexual health and wellbeing, identifying risky behaviours and referring people appropriately into sexual health services. This will take place in a variety of community settings accessible to target populations including community groups, hostels and shopping centres. Benefits of working with us • Full Employee Assistance Programme - a confidential employee benefit designed to help you deal with personal and professional problems that could be affecting your home life or work life, health and general wellbeing • 25 days Annual Leave per year (pro-rated for part-time staff), in addition to Bank Holidays • Exceptionally diverse and inclusive workplace with a welcoming culture Main responsibilities of post: Outreach and Health Promotion 1) To be responsible for developing and coordinating the delivery of health promotion information/resources including condom distribution to people from Black, Asian and Global Majority communities across the three boroughs, with a focus on diverse groups of marginalised people including: people with learning disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, sex workers, and people with histories of substance use 2) Within the Turning Point, Naz and Spectra team you will be leading on work with Asylum Seekers, Refugees and LGBTQ populations 3) Improve access to primary care, GUM and other health services by developing referral pathways to healthcare providers and chaperoning to NHS services 4) To develop and increase confidence, awareness and knowledge levels of people from Black, Asian, Global Majority and marginalised communities to enable them to take control of their own lives with regards to accessing sexual health services 5) Recruit, train and supervise volunteers to support the project; assign roles and tasks 6) To provide point-of-care rapid HIV testing in Black, Asian, Global Majority and marginalised community settings in the three boroughs. Community 7) To liaise closely and work in partnership with other agencies in the community, voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors to help raise awareness of HIV and sexual health in Black, Asian and Global Majority communities 8) Deliver sexual health trainings to relevant professionals, stakeholders and service providers including carers, nurses and social workers 9) Provide workshops, drop-ins and 1-1 support to marginalised communities at hostels, community centres, Initial Accommodation Centres and Learning Disability day centres. 10) Host support sessions for parents and carers of clients with Learning Disabilities 11) To represent Naz at public events relative to the needs and concerns of Black, Asian, Global Majority and marginalised communities in the three boroughs. Internal 12) To prepare work plans and quarterly monitoring reports on project progress on reaching agreed targets and outcomes. 13) To manage and complete all record keeping/attendance figures, ensuring data and information relating to service users is accurate and shared in the appropriate way with key stakeholders; ensuring the maintenance of accurate records for purposes of evaluating and monitoring the project 14) Keep up to date on issues related to HIV and sexual health promotion prevention for our communities 15) To attend team meetings regularly and other meetings as appropriate. 16) Document all client work in line with Naz good practice, particularly with regard to confidentiality and data protection issues. 17)To carry out the duties of the post with due regard to Naz policies such as Equal Opportunities, child protection and adult safeguarding, data protection and health and safety 18) The ability to work flexible hours outside of normal office hours with reasonable notice 19) To carry out other duties as may be reasonably required Person Specification The selection panel will assess candidates against these criteria; please address each point in the person spec in your covering letter. Education and qualification 1) 2 years’ experience of working with Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in either the statutory or non-statutory sector paid or voluntary capacity Essential 2) Experience working with other marginalised communities including sex workers, people experiencing homelessness, people with Learning Disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers and people with histories of substance use.
