Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Chippenham.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Overview: A skilled Cloud Architect with expertise in cloud migration and SharePoint is required to support the design and transition of a complex legacy system to a hosted private cloud solution for a Government Client. This role will focus on designing and planning the migration of legacy systems and SharePoint services to modern cloud infrastructures, ensuring security, compliance, and seamless integration with business processes.
The role is integral to the success of the Client's cloud adoption strategy and roadmap, ensuring the effective transformation of critical services while maintaining operational integrity and performance. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Cloud Architect and collaborate with stakeholders, leading the design of SharePoint solutions to enhance management, documentation, and collaboration within the cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cloud Migration Planning & Execution:
• Develop and implement strategies for migrating SharePoint services to Client-hosted cloud-based solutions.
• Assess legacy systems, identify challenges, and define best practices for a seamless migration.
• Ensure business continuity and minimal disruption during cloud transition.
2. SharePoint Architecture:
• Lead the design and optimisation of SharePoint architectures.
• Define strategies for SharePoint governance, security, and compliance within the cloud environment.
• Implement best practices for SharePoint workflows, automation, and integration with other services.
3. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and wider teams to align cloud migration plans with business objectives.
• Provide technical guidance on SharePoint issues, ensuring best practices for performance.
• Communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
4. Security, Compliance & Risk Management:
• Work closely with the Project's Security Lead to ensure compliance with government regulations, data protection laws, and Secure by Design principles.
• Identify security controls, access management policies, and compliance strategies for SharePoint.
• Identify and support the mitigation of risks and ensure secure cloud adoption.
5. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
• Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and established cloud migration frameworks.
• Ensure the adoption of target platform management processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Promote the use of proven methodologies for cloud migration, governance, and service integration to ensure a structured and reliable transition process.
6. Collaboration & Programme Involvement:
• Work as part of a wider programme managed by the Client-side Programme/Technical Leads.
• Enable outcomes aligned with the Client's cloud migration goals through phased, structured delivery.
• Deliver results based on proven experience in system and service cloud migrations.
• Collaborate with CGI business units to leverage industry best practices and expertise.
• Inform the Client's future cloud migration strategies and roadmaps by identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
• Foster an environment for effective change management, ensuring seamless transition and adoption of cloud hosting solutions.
