What we are looking for
We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Editor to join our creative and vibrant Marketing team, based in our offices at the racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire.
We’re looking for someone with strong copywriting, social media video production and editing skills, combined with a passion for creating engaging social media content that drives audience engagement and delivers measurable results. As a Social Media Editor with a focus on editing and copywriting, you will take the lead on a variety of content projects that support Ascot’s racing events, including Royal Ascot. This role is fast-paced and varied, perfect for a naturally curious and proactive self-starter eager to uncover and tell the incredible stories that define Ascot – from world-class horse racing and haute couture fashion to Michelin-star dining and impactful charity work.
Working as part of the Marketing team, and reporting to the Social Media Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Ascot’s owned channels deliver compelling content that aligns with Marketing objectives. Your responsibilities will span content creation, copywriting, social channel and community management, reporting, and supporting the wider marketing operations, including live event coverage.
What you’ll be doing
* Plan and oversee the content strategy across Ascot’s social media channels on a daily basis, implementing a paid amplification strategy to support content reach.
* Plan, capture, and edit video content that showcases the Ascot brand and meets departmental KPIs. Primarily using mobile but occasionally using a professional-grade camera.
* On-site coverage during racedays, with some weekend work required (time off in lieu provided).
* Write compelling and engaging copy for social media posts, captions, call-to-actions, and other content to drive engagement and communicate the brand’s voice effectively.
* Create and edit written, video, graphic, and image-led social media content, ensuring it is tailored to platform-specific audiences.
* Collaborate with the Marketing team to map out and execute strategies for engaging social media content.
* Maintain consistency in brand tone, image, and style across all platforms while adapting content to diverse audiences.
* Schedule social media posts and identify optimal times for publishing based on social analytics.
* Monitor social media inboxes, addressing comments and responses from the community in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Stay abreast of current trends, new social networks, and tools to develop innovative content ideas.
* Reporting against agreed KPIs to assess the success of campaigns throughout the year.
* Such other duties as the company may, at times, reasonably require.
Skills and experience you can bring
* Proven experience capturing and editing video content; vertical is necessary, landscape is beneficial.
* Proficiency in video editing software such as the Adobe Suite, CapCut, and TikTok video editor.
* Strong copywriting skills with the ability to craft engaging and brand-aligned messaging across platforms.
* Experience using marketing and planning tools such as Sprout Social and Monday.com.
* Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
* Adaptable and quick-thinking, with the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
* In-depth understanding of social media platforms and enthusiasm for digital trends.
* A passion for learning and a collaborative team spirit.
* Knowledge of sport and/or horse racing is desirable.
* A keen interest in consumer brands, keeping up with current trends and always looking for the ‘what else?’
* Working knowledge of and an interest in horse racing or sport is desirable but not essential.
