A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within the public sector.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide management and leadership to the Highway Maintenance team overseeing the feasibility, design, procurement, and construction of a range of projects in the allocated parliamentary constituencies.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Lead and give direction to a team of professional staff engaged in the carrying out of highway maintenance activities.
* Comply with health and safety regulations, legal and statutory requirements, council standing orders, financial regulations, and public sector procurement rules.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of highway maintenance techniques, modern procurement/construction methods, statutory instruments, legislation, and the application of new technology appropriate to the discipline.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require HNC/D in Civil Engineering or related discipline OR BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering OR NVQ Level 6 in Civil Engineering. It will be essential to have an Incorporated Engineer status.
It will be essential to have an extensive level of knowledge of the below:
* Experience in delivering a range of highway maintenance projects of varying sizes up to £5m in a large engineering organization.
* Experience of working in a political environment engaging with a range of stakeholders from both public and private sectors to secure support for projects.
* Experience of project management using methodologies such as PRINCE2.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £60 - 70 per hour Umbrella Ltd.
