We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work in our busy, UKAS accredited laboratory.

This post falls within the provisions of Agenda for Change Annex 20 - Development of Professional Roles, whereby upon completion of an agreed set of competencies you may move onto the next pay band without the need for an application for a post at a higher level.
Applicants for the newly qualified Biomedical Scientists band 5 post will be expected to successfully complete an IBMS Specialist Microbiology diploma within an agreed timescale for progression to Band 6, under annex 20 AFC terms and conditions.

The post holder will carry out the role of a Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology and will rotate through all sections of the laboratory including bacteriology, serology, molecular, mycology and parasitology.
You will perform all designated duties in accordance with local standard operating procedures, and perform and interpret routine and specialist biomedical investigations autonomously, following required training and competency assessment. You will provide high quality patient results efficiently, and within the given turnaround times under the supervision of senior staff. You will need to provide professional leadership to Trainee BMS, Associate Practitioner and MLAs, and provide technical advice to clinicians as to the appropriateness of tests and timescales.
