Graduate Opportunities – SEN Teaching Assistant Are you looking to use your experience and knowledge from your degree to support children within a mainstream Primary School environment? Start: Tuesday 22 nd April 2025 Pay: £12.90 - £14 per hour Location: Accrington Full-time – Expected to work 8.30am – 3.30pm The SENCO of a reputable Primary School in Accrington is keen to secure a Teaching Assistant qualified up to graduate level to support small groups of pupils across the school who require additional SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) support. Senior Leaders in school are committed to ensuring each child receives the right level of support and have therefore created a role in school to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of individual children. Senior Leaders are keen to secure a Graduate with relevant education experience e.g. Education Graduate, Psychology Graduate. We feel a candidate with expertise in this field would be a great addition to our pastoral and inclusion team. This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner who has experience of supporting children or vulnerable adults with their mental health. This is an excellent opportunity to support children across the school and bring new fresh ideas as to how we can support children with their mental health. The Headteacher has an ‘open door policy’ for staff to come forward with new ideas and she is committed to whole school improvement. Role: - Build positive relationships with children. - Work collaboratively with the class teacher to identify gaps in children’s learning. - Plan and deliver 1:1 session’s both in the classroom and intervention classrooms. - Report directly to the SENCO, SLT and parents to inform them of the children’s progress. - Be open-minded and committed to inclusion and try different strategies. - Support children’s social, emotional and mental health development. - Be dynamic and resilient when meeting children’s needs. Requirements: - Enhanced child DBS on the update service. - Excellent understanding of Safeguarding. - A degree with relevant skills and experience which can be linked to education.
