Fenny Compton & Shenington surgeries are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. The candidate would be someone who is motivated and committed to providing high quality care. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, ensuring practice policies and procedures are followed.

* Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
* Chronic disease management, in particular Diabetes
* ECGs
* Wound care

Both sites are dispensing practices and dispense to 98% of our patients. The clinical team is made up of 2 GP partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 GP registrar & 2 HCAs. There is also a fully supportive administrative, reception & dispensary team.

Job summary:
The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of practice.
Job responsibilities:
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs
* Organise and co-ordinate the provision of nursing services for the practice, to include the delegation of duties to other practice nursing staff as appropriate
* Cytology
* Removal of Sutures
* Travel Clinic
* ECGs
* Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
* Venepuncture
* Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
* Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
* Family planning
* Chronic disease management, particularly Diabetes and Coronary Heart Disease
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
Other tasks will include:
* Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
* Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager
* Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
* Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
* At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
* A duty to advise GP of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks
* Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
* On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits, such as flu & COVID vaccinations
* Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered nurse with current NMC registration and active PIN.
* Minimum 2 years experience post registration in a primary care setting.
* Competence to undertake Asthma, COPD and Diabetic clinics/reviews and hold relevant certificates.
* Chronic disease management qualifications, ideally Diabetes and Chronic Heart Disease.
Experience
* Experience of working as a Practice Nurse within a primary care setting.
* Portfolio of CPD with evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* Experience of QOF requirements
