Job summary Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital (QVM) is a 21 bedded unit located on the outskirts of Welwyn Village, Hertfordshire. QVM provides rehabilitation for patients with a wide range of conditions such as falls, frailty, stroke, orthopaedics and amputees. QVM is a purpose built unit to also support East & North Hertfordshire's plus size pathway. Rehabilitation is provided on a generic 17-day pathway, or a 35-day pathway for stroke patients. You will be joining a friendly supportive team where professional guidance is readily available. A supervision structure and opportunities for continuous professional development are strongly encouraged. A weekend working pattern will be required. This will involve working approximately 1 in 4 weekends with days off in lieu during the week. Main duties of the job The post holder will work under direction of the Lead Therapists helping to provide a rehabilitation service on a 1:1 and group therapy basis. They will be an excellent communicator, with the assessment and treatment skills needed for a variety of conditions including plus size, orthopaedics, neurology and amputees. Providing excellent clinical reasoning skills and giving expert advice, guidance and information to patients, health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals, to facilitate safe and timely discharges. The post holder will deputise for the Lead Therapists when needed, and will provide supervision for junior staff, therapy support workers and students.
