Job Description
Your future team:
The Senior Structural Engineer will be working with multi-discipline infrastructure system designs to provide an overall sustainment capability for our client’s Major Infrastructure Projects directorate.
Your missions:
1. Using your experience in facility upgrade or construction projects you will manage and review the design packages by subconsultants and work with users and other stakeholders to ensure that the integrated facility provides the sustainment capability.
2. You will use your Structural Engineering expertise to ensure the product meets the technical and operational requirements of the facility. This will include:
1. Ensuring systems are designed against a clear statement of compliance with defined requirements, including demonstration that the design meets relevant HSE requirements.
2. Supporting the management of the structural engineering elements of the new buildings, ensuring designer technical performance, and making appropriate technical responses.
3. Ensuring that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
4. Planning for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and effectively contributing to the project’s technical planning process.
5. Ensuring that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented, records maintained, and configuration and quality controls applied.
6. Providing technical design guidance and review integration of structural designs with other design packages.

My profile
Qualifications/Skills to be successful:
1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Structural/Civil Engineering.
2. Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant institution or demonstrable engineering experience and capability of registering with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
3. Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.
4. Knowledge of building services design and installation.
5. Experience of relevant seismic codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions.
6. Knowledge of construction techniques employed for Nuclear Safety related structures and buildings.
7. Experience managing sub-contractors and consultants.
8. An awareness of Company and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
9. SC Clearance – or ability to gain it. Potentially able to start with BPSS.
10. Sole UK National
11. Hybrid – Occasional visits to Client site near Plymouth. Home Office, ideally Sunderland or Glasgow but any location commutable to an Assystem office in UK considered
12. Ideally Staff but Umbrella Contractor considered
