We are looking for an experienced Communications and Engagement professional interested in developing their skills and knowledge through a secondment to join our Connected Homes Inclusive Places Programme.
The role
The Communications and Engagement Lead Officer (Connected Places) is a new role creating an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to get involved in the delivery of connected places projects at this exciting time.
Greater Manchester is one of 12 regions nationally to be part of the Department for Science Industry and Technology 5G Innovation Regions programme. We are working with public and industry partners to test how digital connectivity can deliver real benefit to the people of Greater Manchester and catalyse a wider programme of work within the social housing sector.
Initially for the lifetime of the project, the role will work across project partners to coordinate resident and wider stakeholder engagement. Developing the narrative for the project in the context of the wider Greater Manchester Digital Blueprint priority to create connected, inclusive and sustainable places.
This is an outward facing, dynamic and fast-paced role contributing to the delivery of high-profile GMCA ambitions.
Based at the following location however flexible working arrangements apply, in line with GMCA Hybrid Working policy: GMCA offices at Tootal Buildings, Oxford Road, Manchester, M1 6EU;
About You
The role holder will have experience of developing and leading on communications and engagement projects, working with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable working in a project environment across organisational boundaries.
You will be a natural collaborator, adept at building relationships. An effective team player with the energy to have an impact and the sensitivity to do so constructively. Able to develop, implement and assess the insights of diverse communities.
An interest in digital and internet of things technologies along with experience in the social housing sector whilst not essential would be an advantage.

GMCA Digital Services is a team of approximately 65 people enabling a broad range of corporate and pan GM initiatives including services for GM Fire & Rescue Service and for many other public agencies in Greater Manchester. The team supports both effective corporate operations and pan GM goals set out in the Greater Manchester Strategy by the Mayor of Greater Manchester and the ten Council Leaders.
