Are you passionate about building, managing, and leading a team of engineers who are embarking on a journey to build the next generation of Checkout architecture to accelerate PV's growth in the next 3-5 years? You will be joining at an exciting time to solve architecture challenges that are hard and motivating because they directly impact PV's strategic growth pillars. Your team will be helping millions of customers around the world to subscribe to Prime, TV channels, or purchase/rent movies and enjoy live sports.

Prime Video's Checkout team is looking for a manager to lead a team of engineers who will be working on next generation architecture that supports customers who want to subscribe for Prime, TV Channels, Live sports, or to Rent/Buy the hottest movies and TV shows from yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Key job responsibilities
1. Lead a team of engineers based in London, UK, and invest in their growth.
2. Work with the team, stakeholders, and product to refine mechanisms for effective collaboration, faster decision-making, and timely delivery.
3. Act as an owner of your services and team to deliver for customers and make decisions in their best interest.
4. Collaborate with product, Customer Service, UX team, program managers, and key stakeholders globally to identify the right opportunities for your team.
5. Collect input from multiple sources, including products, stakeholders, customer support, and brainstorm with your team to make collective decisions about priorities and trade-offs.
6. Engage and communicate with the team and stakeholders about decisions and create a sense of urgency to deliver with the right mechanisms in place.
7. Provide input in design, development, testing, and operations for programs that own systems and services.
8. Work closely with the team to set the forward-looking architectural vision that enables rapid delivery on behalf of customers.
9. Represent your team's progress in regular management status update meetings.
10. Invest in team development to align their aspirations with our long-term vision, coaching and growing them.
A day in the life
You will lead a team with tenured and relatively new engineers. You will work with product, stakeholders, partner teams, and program managers globally to identify the right opportunities that your team should focus on and build the next generation of architecture to support PV's growth in the years to come. You will provide input in design, development, testing, and go-to-market strategies for programs. You will drive the forward-looking architecture that enables your team to deliver rapidly on behalf of customers and can scale for millions of customers by expanding to additional devices and locales without any customer impact. You will have the opportunity to work on long-term technical strategy and build a roadmap to deliver on it while balancing work-life harmony.
About the team
The team is critical to PV and plays a vital role in ensuring systems and services scale and work so customers can easily subscribe to enjoy the content they love. You will deliver the next generation of architecture while balancing the current needs of the business that fuel PV's growth. This is a very exciting time for the team to work on highly complex and ambiguous problems that will become the foundation for the next phase of our architecture, delivering value to customers with speed and agility while maintaining high availability and resiliency of the signup and purchase experience. You will be part of a wider Checkout organization with experienced leaders to help you learn and grow.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
* Experience in engineering.
* Experience in leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
* Experience working directly within engineering teams.
* Experience managing engineers.
* Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
* Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
* Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
