Asset Alliance Group - Fleet Maintenance Controller

You will be working closely with our Customer Service Advisors. The Maintenance Controller role is to manage and authorise repair costs on behalf of the Company with our supplier network and to agree the recharging of damage costs with our customers to the point of approval.
* Key focus is on managing VOR days to a minimum by quickly responding to repair agents and maintaining good working relationships both externally and internally.
* The job holder is also expected to provide feedback to line management and the Fleet Director on any issues or concerns with regards to the performance of our suppliers and will be required to liaise with and assist our Fleet Engineers where required.
* All activity and approvals are to be recorded on the Company’s IT system.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Check the maintenance history when jobs are called in to see if there are related jobs in the system.
* Checking any warranty implications so the first decision is made correctly.
* Help authorise work for the Customer Service team to action.
* Monitor and check the Pro-Formas are being created correctly and repairs noted.
* Escalate issues to the fleet engineers/management so decisions can be made ASAP.
* Ensure VOR downtime is kept to a minimum whilst keeping costs under control.
* Ensuring the work authorised has been carried out at the agreed price.
* Ensuring the correct servicing has been carried out and updating the compliance team of any issues.
* Checking labour and parts are charged at the correct rates, times and with the agreed discounts applied.
* Discuss and agree in life damage costs with our customers to ensure we have Purchase Orders to cover the costs.
Person Specification
* Proven industry qualification City and Guilds level 1 & 2 Automotive Maintenance / Maintenance Engineering and repair.
* Experience as a fully trained technician or significant experience in a similar role authorising spend on heavy commercial assets.
* Good communicator, in-particular by telephone.
* Friendly and approachable, capable of fostering good customer / supplier relationships.
