Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse - Claydon Ward

We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, and well-motivated Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our amazing team on Claydon Ward.
Claydon is a 14 bedded Cardiology Ward with an additional 10 bedded Cardiac Monitoring Unit. The ward works closely with Ipswich Heart Centre who carry out onsite procedures including Cardiac Catheterisation, pacemaker insertions and DC Cardioversion. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to provide leadership to a highly experienced, skilled, and established team.
Cardiology experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible, with the guidance of the Ward Sister for providing leadership and teaching within the Unit environment.
2. To support the Ward Sister in the general management of the ward, such as completion of appraisals, 1-1s and other management tasks.
3. Through knowledge, good example and education, enable unit staff to deliver high quality, individualised care.
4. To provide support and supervision of nursing staff, and effectively coordinate and deploy resources within the ward.
5. To assist in the provision of the Cardiac Monitoring Service across the wider hospital, through the monitoring of telemetry.

Person Specification
Experience
* Proven NHS experience in cardiology
* Experience of delivering evidence based practice
* Experience of ward coordination
* Experience in cardiac assessment, rhythm recognition and ECG interpretation
Qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Relevant teaching and mentoring qualification
* ALS/ILS
Knowledge
* Awareness and understanding of current Government/Trust initiatives/NMC Code of Conduct
* Current practices / trends within Medical assessment nursing
* Good knowledge of infection control procedures/initiatives
* Awareness of current issues within health and nursing
* Able to articulate understanding of managing clinical risk
* Cardiac assessment, rhythm recognition and ECG interpretation skills
* Leadership course
