Job Description: We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Engineer – Wind Tunnel Model Systems to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at our new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you'll lead a group of engineers and technicians to support the development and integration of wind tunnel model systems and technologies. Principal Accountabilities:
1. Lead and manage a team responsible for all aspects of mechanical, electro-mechanical, control systems and measurement instrumentation for the wind tunnel model and any off-model systems that are directly related to data acquisition (e.g. metrology).
2. Ensure the wind tunnel is delivering class leading quality and throughput in support of race car aerodynamic development.
3. Manage the group’s workload and meet targets; management of high value projects involving multiple personnel and skillsets.
4. Setup and calibrate model systems, instrumentation and rig installations.
5. Investigate and research new and novel technologies, techniques and methodologies for wind tunnel model systems including instrumentation, sensors and aerodynamic measurements.
6. Proactively lead technical fault logging and resolution in a methodical approach.
7. Work closely with aero development and performance engineers in defining and delivering upon requirements.
8. Manage Health and Safety requirements.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within the motorsport industry.
2. Extensive experience of wind tunnel model systems and testing facilities.
3. Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations and assemblies, pressure measurement instrumentation and wind tunnel flow field and metrology systems.
4. Experience in operating test installations, machinery and safety critical equipment.
5. Experience in project planning and management.
6. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
7. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
8. Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
9. Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
