Team/Role Overview
The UK Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) team is responsible for supporting the SMF16 in maintaining an effective Compliance Function for Citi's UK Legal Entities by partnering with product and functions compliance coverage teams to establish internal strategies, policies, procedures, processes, and programs to prevent violations of laws, rules, or regulations and design and deliver a compliance risk management framework that maintains risk levels within the firm's compliance risk appetite.
The role serves as a Senior Compliance Risk Officer within the UK ICRM team and plays a pivotal role in supporting the SMF 16 in overseeing the UK Compliance Function, providing regulatory advice to, and credibly challenging businesses operating on Citi's UK legal entities.
What you will do
* Serving as a subject matter expert within the UK ICRM team, advising and credibly challenging the first line of defence in the execution of their compliance risk management responsibilities, including in relation to day-to-day compliance risk matters, responses to UK regulatory requests, and other activities required to promote an effective compliance culture.
* Partnering with product and functions compliance coverage teams to promote effective conduct risk management, by advising and credibly challenging the first line in respect of their management of conduct risk.
* Supporting businesses operating on Citi's UK Legal Entities in ensuring regulatory permissions remain up to date and advising on Variation of Permissions (VoP) applications, as needed.
* Keeping abreast of regulatory changes relevant to Citi's UK Legal Entities, regulatory expectations and industry developments.
* Providing oversight and guidance over the assessment of complex issues, structuring potential solutions and driving effective resolution with other stakeholders.
* Ensuring compliance risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled and reported, consistent with the bank's risk appetite statement and all policies and processes established within the risk governance framework.
* Monitoring adherence to Citi's Compliance Risk Policies and measuring compliance risk through a robust control framework and ensuring that reviews are conducted consistently across Citi's UK Legal Entities on a regular basis to confirm that controls identified are operating effectively.
* Performing complex analyses of comparative data, preparing and presenting reports related to compliance risk assessments, and monitoring of compliance related issues.
* Partnering, collaborating and working with other areas within Citi, as necessary.
* Applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
What we will need from you
* Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape, regulatory expectations and industry standards, post-Brexit required.
* Prior experience in UK regulatory authorizations and regulatory liaison preferred.
* Has the ability to operate independently with a limited level of direct supervision.
* Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills, strong attention to detail, team oriented and organised.
* Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive.
* Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging.
* Ability to work collaboratively with global partners in other functional units; navigate a complex organization; influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level.
* Experience in managing regulatory exams and relationships with examiners, auditors etc.
Education
* Experience in in-business risk, Compliance, Legal or other control-related function in within financial services, a regulatory organization, a legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof.
* Strong working knowledge of financial markets and the related operations and regulatory expectations.
