The opportunity
As our GCSE Maths Teacher within our Landbased Industries department, you’ll play a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality teaching to our students studying GCSE Maths. Based at the beautiful Wigfield Farm, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and inspiring environment, offering both academic and pastoral support to learners. Your role will not only focus on teaching but also on contributing to the ongoing enhancement of the curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of all students. By collaborating with colleagues across the college, you’ll help create a supportive, motivating learning atmosphere that encourages students to reach their full potential.
You’ll teach a range of GCSE Maths courses and inspire your students to achieve their best. You’ll be involved in every aspect of course planning, including developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources, all while building strong relationships with your learners. Your efforts will contribute to improving student retention, attendance, and success rates, and you’ll play a key role in shaping the curriculum to best meet students’ needs.
You’ll also have the opportunity to bring a variety of teaching methods to life, adapting to different learning styles, while developing and refining curriculum materials. You’ll also support our course leaders in creating new courses and innovative delivery methods, ensuring students receive an engaging and relevant learning experience. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Landbased Industries department, helping the college achieve its goals for our students’ achievement and progression.
You’ll assess students’ work, providing constructive feedback to help them progress, and you’ll ensure that student progress is closely monitored and recorded. Alongside your academic responsibilities, you’ll provide valuable academic and pastoral support, helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. You’ll also engage with parents, attend Parent Evenings, and participate in enrolment activities, helping build strong partnerships with both students and their families.
With your ongoing monitoring, each student will have a clear, personalised learning plan, helping them set and track their development goals. Your support will play a crucial part in their academic and personal growth, making a lasting impact on their journey to success.
About you

Experience in teaching GCSE Maths is essential, along with a solid understanding of the curriculum and assessment practices. You’ll need to be proactive, organised, and capable of developing and refining course materials to meet the evolving needs of the students. Strong communication skills are key, as you’ll be building positive relationships with both students and their families, offering academic and pastoral support.
We’re also looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working within the Landbased Industries department and is keen to collaborate with colleagues across the college to continuously improve the learning experience.
