Shortlisting Date: 14th May 2025 Interview Date: 21st May 2025 Interview Type: Practical Test and Interview Your Role We are looking to recruit to an enthusiastic and passionate qualified vision Rehabilitation Specialist (ROVI) who is committed to supporting and empowering individuals with a visual impairment and their families and make a difference to their lives. Identifying their strengths and needs with empathy and respect you will ensure that our Stockport residents are provided, using a strength-based approach, with the very best support, training, rehabilitation and interventions. You will carry out holistic, person centred assessments of need and provide rehabilitation programmes for orientation and mobility, communication and daily living skills for individuals with a visual impairment. About You You will have a recognised qualification with Foundation Degree Dip HE or equivalent in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) and a member of RWPN. You will have experience of carrying out specialist assessments and in the planning and delivery of rehabilitation/ training programmes involving orientation, mobility, methods of communication, low vision strategies and independent living skills. You will be committed to supporting and empowering individuals with a visual impairment and their families by promoting accessible services, equality, social integration and an understanding of the impact of sight loss. You will have knowledge of sensory loss and the impact on physical, emotional, social, psychological and mental health well-being You will have up to date knowledge of social care policy and legislation in relation to broad social care practice and to specific issues about visual impairment. You will have good time management and organisational skills and able to manage a complex caseload, ensuring rehabilitation goals are met in a timely manner. You will be crucial to the ongoing development and delivery of services and support to the residents of Stockport. Extensive travel is an essential part of the role so access to a vehicle for work purposes will be needed (own car or Access to Work). About Us You will be part of a friendly, helpful and support team who are all dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with a visual impairment. You will work alongside another experienced ROVI, an Apprentice ROVI and Equipment and Adaptation Officers providing specialist support to those individuals with a visual, hearing and/or physical disability. The Sensory Team comes under the wider Prevention, Wellbeing and Independence Service that includes several other professionals including Occupational Therapists, Moving and Handling Advisors, Handypersons and Social Workers. To carry out the role to the best of your ability we will give you a comprehensive induction, monthly reflective supervision and opportunity for regular CPD/ training opportunities.
