Job Description:
Ipsen is seeking a highly skilled Medical Affairs Director to join our team in a high visibility role. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategy of our oncology pipeline, ensuring the development and implementation of innovative approaches to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes. The position is ideal for someone who has a strong innovative mindset looking to bring new and exciting strategy input while leading a team.
Role responsibilities:
Leadership:
1. Lead the medical team, including Medical Advisers, Scientific Advisors, Medical Scientific Liaisons, Clinical Operations, Medical Excellence, and Medical Information Officers.
2. Provide support and leadership within the UK & Ireland Leadership Team.
3. Promote a performance-driven, patient-focused environment by creating, developing, and leading an optimal Medical team.
4. Recruit staff with well-defined roles and the appropriate skills and competencies.
5. Set clear objectives and responsibilities.
6. Develop, motivate, and retain individuals and the team.
7. Encourage efficiency and effectiveness by implementing appropriate management processes and sharing ideas and best practices.
Governance, ethics & compliance:
1. Ensure all staff are trained and compliant with relevant SOPs and reporting requirements related to adverse events, in conjunction with the RSQ Director.
2. Ensure all activities are conducted within the framework and full compliance of EU and national regulatory requirements, Good Pharmacovigilance Practice (GVP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Ipsen SOPs and Company policies, health and safety requirements, the UK and Irish Medicines Acts, and Industry Codes of Practice.
3. Provide clinical expertise and proactive input into the generation, review, approval, and certification of all promotional and relevant non-promotional materials and activities as per the ABPI's Code of Practice.
Clinical/pharmaceutical expert:
1. Maintain, continuously update, and develop clinical knowledge and experience in relation to Ipsen's portfolio and therapy areas.
2. Provide a scientific duty of care and ensure the benefit/risk of Ipsen's products is understood and remains appropriate.
3. Provide expert opinion and training for internal and external stakeholders on relevant products and therapy areas.
4. Provide clinico-scientific expertise and proactive input into the generation, review, and approval of promotional and educational materials and activities in compliance with Ipsen SOPs and Industry Codes of Practice.
5. Facilitate medical cooperation with partnership companies.
Patient centricity:
1. Act as a patient advocate in all activities to ensure the needs of current and future patients are met.
2. Foster relationships with relevant patient organizations to stay abreast of the needs of the patient community and potentially shape patient-focused programs.
3. Represent Ipsen as an ambassador within the patient and academic communities.
Knowledge & experience required:
1. UK Registered Physician or Pharmacist
2. ABPI final signatory
3. Proven strategic knowledge and experience within Medical Affairs for assets
4. Proven oncology expertise is preferred
5. People management experience
6. Project management leadership in studies and audits
7. Leadership in cross-functional working
8. Strong ethics and compliance knowledge and leadership
9. Demonstrable ability to function in multi-cultural and cross-functional working environments
10. Demonstrable ability to collaborate and innovate
