Main Purpose of the Role

We currently have the following opportunity:
The post holder is required to work on a variety of environment service tasks within the Grounds Maintenance Service.
The main responsibility of the post holder will be the safe operation of a tractor and tractor driven gang mowers, hedge cutter and leaf collector.
As part of a team, you will perform maintenance tasks throughout the Strathearn area including grass and hedge cutting, triple and ride on rotary driving, driving vans and trailers, operation of other ride on and hand powered grass cutting machinery, pesticide application and litter collection.
You may also be required to carry out other duties such as assisting with burials, street sweeping, refuse collection (loading) and any other Environment Service's tasks as and when required.
The Environment Service operates new ways of working which is a variable shift system involving weekend working. The overall aim of the exercise is to secure a modern system that will comply with all Road Transport Regulations and provide continuous seven days a week working.
The contracted shift pattern will be our Grounds Maintenance shift pattern:
Sunday to Wednesday / Sunday to Tuesday.
Skills & Experience Required
You must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post.
Applicants should ideally have horticultural background with good plant knowledge, and you must be able to demonstrate the ability to competently operate and maintain a ride-on grass cutting machine plus all other typical grounds maintenance machinery.
You must be a team player who understands the importance of good morale and proactively pursues good professional relationships with colleagues.
A Full Cat B driving licence and C1+E are essential.
It would be an advantage to have a PA1/6 in pesticide application or be willing to undertake training.
