Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our small, friendly and progressive inpatient pharmacy department at Weston General Hospital, part of theUniversity Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a Pharmacy stores assistant to support the technical staff in our stores area, with the efficient running of this department. You will be expected to partake in the weekend/bank holiday rota once training has been provided.
Applicants must possess a good standard of education with good computer, communication and manual handling skills. You must be able to work alone and in a team, prioritise and organize your own work and work efficiently and accurately. An understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues is essential.
The role involves manual handling, with the receipt, storage and distribution of various medications and medical devices being an integral part of the role.
Pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. Liaises with other Assistant(s) to provide support of technical staff in order to maintain efficient running of the Pharmacy and other Departments and wards of the Hospital.
2. Undertake "top-up" of medicines to departments and wards of the hospital.
3. Dispensing of routine prescriptions.
4. Undertake telephone answering and receptionist duties within the department.
5. Process and fill requisitions from departments and wards.
6. Receive, check, computerise and store medicines upon delivery from suppliers.
7. Return suitable unused, issued medicines to stock for subsequent re-issue
8. Undertake distribution duties to departments and wards as necessary.
9. Use and maintain robot software and hardware in line with SOPs.
10. Check pharmacy stock to ensure suitability of medicines for issue.
11. Maintain the department in a clean and tidy condition.
12. Undertake "top-up" of BOC Gases.
13. To be involved with general ordering and ordering-related queries.
14. Gain an understanding of the automated dispensing Robot.
15. Maintain stock rotation.
16. Routine medication expiry checks.
17. Assisting in the delivery and distribution of IV fluids
