Your responsibility as the Engineering Stores Buyer is to oversee the procurement side of stores. However, you will also needs to support the Stores Manager with the development of the department focused on the delivery and continuous improvement of Engineering stores to support the site wide improvement of maintenance planning and execution, with the objective of improving performance in line with agreed site wide KPI’s.The role also includes deputising in the stores managers absence and to cover the front of house store man role in their absence.
ABOUT THE ROLE Your role involves managing requisitioning and purchasing for the Engineering department, selecting suppliers based on price, quality, and service while ensuring smooth financial transactions. You will also have the responsibilities to overseas setting stock levels, ensuring stock accuracy in SAP, and following the stock reduction plan. Your position also involves researching best practices for item storage and supporting the Stores Manager in maintaining procedures for stores management, procurement processes, part creation, and SKU maintenance. The role emphasizes self-development and identifies skills gaps for improvement, contributing to training plans. Key performance goals include improving SKU numbers, inventory accuracy (aiming for 98%), service levels, reducing stock-outs, and managing suppliers effectively. WHAT I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL You are a candidate with a strong engineering background, ideally holding an ONC to HND in an Engineering Discipline and a minimum of a Level 3 procurement qualification. You have over years of experience in manufacturing, including at significant experiences in FMCG industry, you will have a solid understanding of statutory compliance within a manufacturing environment. You should be highly numerate and possess a good grasp of inventory management processes.Experience in operating within a CMMS environment is essential, with a preference for SAP PM and MM. A passion for personal development and continuous improvement (CI) is key, as is strong engineering knowledge, particularly within the FMCG industry, and especially in the bottling sector. You should have excellent oral and written communication skills, a right-first-time attitude, and the ability to work autonomously. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in root cause analysis (RCA) preparation are also required, alongside a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
