About the Role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. You will help facilitate learning, promote independence, and ensure that all students feel valued and supported. Job Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN. Assist in the delivery of individualised learning plans and interventions. Support students in managing social interactions and emotional regulation. Use a range of communication strategies and sensory approaches to enhance learning. Implement behaviour management techniques in line with school policies. Assist in adapting lesson materials to meet students’ individual learning needs. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to support student development. Job Requirements: Experience working with individuals with SEN, disabilities, or complex needs. Understanding of Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs and how to implement effective support strategies. Knowledge of communication techniques such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods (desirable but not essential). Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not mandatory). Strong empathy, patience and resilience in managing behavioural and emotional challenges. Must be a driver with access to a vehicle due to the location and travel requirements. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Why Join GSL Education?
