At Phoenix Learning and Care, we believe every child should have the opportunity to explore and engage in enriching activities. Our mission is to ensure that the children we support experience the same joys as their peers, and we need your help to make this happen.
Our children have social and emotional needs related to Autism, ADHD, or Trauma. They require supportive role models to help them flourish. Your involvement will make a significant difference in their lives, especially during challenging times.
This role involves working in our small one, three, or four-bedroom homes based in and around Tiverton. You will work closely with the team and the children. The children require support 24 hours a day, allowing you to complete your full week in just 2-3 days, totaling only 10 shifts per month!
A day in the life of a Support Worker will involve:
* Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible, whether through baking at home, fun days out, or holidays. Activities may include ensuring a healthy diet or taking them to a local community drama group.
* Ensuring our children are safe and their plans are tailored to their needs. You will help monitor their development by keeping our systems and records up to date. Comprehensive training will be provided.
To be a successful Support Worker, you’ll need:
* Patience, compassion, and resilience, as the children may have experienced trauma affecting their behavior.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with various stakeholders and update children's plans.
* A valid driving licence, as you will need to transport children in our vehicles.
* Flexibility, including the ability to sleep at the home during shifts, as support is needed 24 hours a day.
* If you don’t hold a qualification in residential childcare, we will cover the costs for you to obtain this within your first 2 years in the role.
In return for your time, you’ll receive:
* Holidays: 28 days annual leave, with an extra day off for your birthday after your first year.
* Pension scheme: A pension scheme with a 5% employee contribution and a 3% employer contribution.
* Learning & Development Opportunities: Comprehensive learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
* Discounts: Access to discounts through the Blue Light Card and our employee benefits platform.
* Wellbeing Support: Access to mental health and wellbeing support, including a monthly confidential check-in clinic and group reflective practice sessions.
* Cycle2Work: A scheme allowing you to purchase a bicycle at a discounted rate.
* DBS: We will cover the cost of your enhanced DBS check required for this role.
After 12 months of service, you’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme, covering a range of medical, health, and wellbeing expenses, including immediate access to a GP. Life assurance is provided at x2 your annual salary, along with additional high street discounts.
We are committed to a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment for all team members. We encourage our teams to bring their true selves to work without fear of discrimination.
