Applications are invited for Clinical Fellowship positions in ECMO and Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust.
These posts are suitable for a specialty trainee (ST6 and above), equivalent trainee, or post CCST to gain additional specialist experience and are open to both national and international applicants.
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the largest in the UK dedicated to the care of children with congenital and acquired heart disease, with over 700 admissions annually.
The unit provides comprehensive care for critically ill children with complex heart disease, including nearly 600 open heart surgeries per year. Additionally, the unit provides care for 5 highly specialised services, including extracorporeal life support (ECLS) for neonatal and paediatric respiratory failure, mechanical circulatory support including a ventricular assist devices (VAD) programme, heart/lung transplantation (largest in Europe), dedicated national Tracheal programme, and national paediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Service.
Main duties of the job
This trust post is tenable for 12 months. Applicants should have completed a minimum of 2 years of training at the equivalent of specialist registrar level in either paediatrics or anaesthesia, in addition to two years of paediatric intensive care experience at registrar level and either six months cardiac intensive care or paediatric cardiology. This should include experience in managing patients with complex congenital heart disease and patients supported on extracorporeal life support, including ventricular assist devices. The post holder will join other trust doctors and specialist registrars in the training programme for paediatric intensive care medicine.
Appointment will be at the equivalent of specialist trainee year 6 upwards depending on previous experience.

Skills and abilities
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment
* Ability to prioritise clinical needs
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
* Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent
* Full (or eligible for full) GMC registration with License to practice
* MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
* Higher degree - MSc, MPhil related discipline
Knowledge and experience
* At least 2 years' experience in paediatric intensive care medicine at ST6+ level
* At least 6 months experience in extracorporeal life support
* Experience of teaching and presenting
* Experience of audit activities
* Understanding of principles of clinical governance
* Current level 3 safeguarding training
* Clinical experience in related paediatric specialties
* Published research in peer-reviewed journals

Salary and Contract Information
£54,468 to £64,288 a year pro rata, per annum.
