Job Position: Health and Safety Manager
We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws, heavily involved in the logistical side of it all. Working as part of and alongside the compliance team to develop the internal safety and quality management of our employees and technical processes and standards, ensuring a consistently high level of safe service is delivered to our customers, engineers, and employees.
You'll have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards, specifically working around our distribution centres - it'd be awesome if you have a logistical H&S background. You'll be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety. This role will involve regular travel across the UK.
What you'll do:
1. Support the SHE Manager and the wider operational business to ensure all aspects of works are procured, managed, and delivered in line with internal and external SHE requirements.
2. Work and support the logistic and transport managers.
3. Manage third party HSE providers across our portfolio, driving safety culture across and ensuring compliance with OR standards and procedures.
4. Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
5. Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
6. Evaluate facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
7. Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
8. Identify any gaps in the health and safety systems and recommend improvements.
9. Investigate accidents or incidents to discover direct causes.
10. Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures and report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
11. Work with the wider team to onboard and grow our supply chain.
What you'll need:
1. Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager.
2. Experience in the health and safety side of Logistics and Transport as well as an understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
3. Have completed a NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
4. Hold an internal auditing qualification e.g., ISO45001.
5. Have in-depth understanding of UK H&S legislation and its practical application in social housing refurbishment projects or similar (CDM, WAH, Asbestos, and Gas etc).
6. Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
7. Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
8. Valid qualification in occupational health and safety.
