Senior Management Role / Head of Department - Family Law
Location: Leamington Spa (with hybrid working)
Salary: up to £70,000 negotiable, commensurate with experience
We are working in partnership with a well-established, Lexcel accredited, Legal 500-recognised, multi-office law firm who are looking to attract an experienced Private Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, with around 5+ years' PQE, to head up their busy Family Department based in Leamington Spa town centre.
The role will involve:
1. Leading and managing the Family Law Department, providing strong leadership to the team
2. Managing Departmental budgets and finances
3. Ensuring the development of all staff
4. Managing own caseload of financial remedy and private law children matters
5. Interviewing and advising clients in all matters relating to family law and identifying solutions
6. Drafting correspondence, briefs, court documentation, full attendance notes and statements of evidence
7. Continually reviewing cases in the light of new information
8. Liaising with experts, enquiry agents, costs draftspersons, counsel and colleagues
9. Undertaking advocacy work
10. Assisting the management team in tendering for LAA contracts and ensuring compliance in contract requirements
11. Ensuring members of the department have clear training and development plans
12. Conducting and coordinating regular performance and file reviews for all team members
Suitable candidates will have:
1. Around 5 years' + PQE as a Family Private Solicitor with experience of leading on complex matters
2. Excellent people skills and organisational skills
3. Experience of case management systems and time recording
4. Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to deal sensitively with clients
5. Accredited panel member for Legal Aid Supervision (Family Law, Family Law Advanced, Children's Panel or Resolution Specialist)
6. Mediator qualification (desirable, but not essential)
This is a full-time permanent job, working 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Hybrid working will be considered one to two days per week following an initial training/bedding-in period.
