We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, experienced and forward thinking Audiologist with Paediatric experience who can help us to deliver a multi-site Audiology service, which is provided across Acute, Community and Domiciliary settings.
The Audiology service provides the full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology procedures to both Children and Adults and a comprehensive NHS hearing aid service to both neonates, Children and Adults working in a multidisciplinary way with other services, Trusts and agencies.
The post holder will also help provide a range of diagnostic Audiology procedures and an Audiology support service to the Community Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Service and to the Acute Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Consultants in their respective Outpatient clinics.
A minimum 2 years post qualification experience in an NHS Audiology Department is essential as is experience of assessing and aiding Paediatric patients.
You will have excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills to undertake this role. You will work independently as well as part of a team, and you will have a good understanding of current trends and development in Audiology services.
Main duties of the job
The Audiology service is provided from within the Specialist Surgery Division of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and is delivered from the Audiology Department based in the Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre, Brierley Hill.
The service is delivered district wide including a comprehensive NHS hearing aid service to both neonates, Children and Adults including those with complex needs. The service also provides the full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology procedures to a highly specialised level of expertise and an Audiology provision to the Community Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Service and to the Acute Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Consultants in their respective Outpatient clinics.
The Audiology service has a fully integrated Patient Management Data system (Auditbase) and a comprehensive understanding of this system is required to ensure accurate control of hearing aid stock, smooth running and accurate collation of statistical information to assist in the provision of a quality Audiology service within a strict baseline budget.
The post holder will carry out all the duties of a senior member of the audiology team including adult and child hearing assessment and rehabilitation. This post will additionally require the post holder to carry out more specialised testing and habilitation in the paediatric audiology team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc in Audiology (Hons) or equivalent
* State registration with RCCP/HCPC
* BSA/BAA Member
Knowledge
* Excellent knowledge and experience of relevant Audiological assessment procedures
* Excellent knowledge of the range of NHS hearing aids available
* Evidence of training in specialised Paediatric testing - VRA/ABR/OAE
* Evidence of training in Paediatric hearing aid fitting and habilitation
Experience
* Minimum 2 years post qualification experience in an NHS Audiology department
* Experience of paediatric behavioural assessment and rehabilitation
* Experience of fitting NHS hearing aids to adults and children
* Experience working with the public, both adults and children
* Skills to conduct Otoscopy, take impressions and modify earmoulds when required
* Experience with Auditbase (Audiology Patient Management system)
* Experience of working with adults and children with complex needs, cognitive impairment or learning disabilities
Skills
* Patient, caring approach to management of patients and their families.
* Ability to break distressing news to patients/relatives and carers re: diagnosis of permanent loss of hearing and other ear related conditions
* Ability to provide help and advice to other staff, which may involve disturbance of own clinical time
