Your new role
As the Business Development Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Business Development. You will play a crucial role in supporting and executing the firm’s business development strategy. This role offers significant exposure to clients, prospects, and internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
* Strategy Implementation: Assist the Director in refining and executing the firm’s business development strategy to expand client revenues through key account planning, strategic partnerships, and the acquisition of new clients.
* Client Education & Outreach: Work closely with the marketing team to educate potential clients on our firm’s unique services. Contribute to events, create thought leadership pieces, white papers, and social media posts.
* Prospect/Partnership Engagement & Qualification: Communicate with potential clients and partners both on the phone and in-person at networking events.
* Prospect Research & Proposal Development: Identify and conduct research on prospective clients, partners, industries, and opportunities. Assist in preparing tailored proposals and presentations to pitch the firm’s services. Take a proactive approach to generating new business opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
* Review & Negotiate Terms of Engagement
* CRM System Support: Assist in the ongoing implementation and improvement of the firm’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
What you'll need to succeed
* A solid interest in and understanding of business development principles with practical experience.
* A background in professional services, ideally legal services.
* Strong communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders, prospects, and clients.
* Detail-oriented with excellent research and proposal-writing skills. Familiarity with IP, commercial, litigation, and trademarks is advantageous.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
