Manufacturing Engineer - 6 month FTC (H/F)
The Manufacturing Engineers provide effective and timely day-to-day support to all operations modules. Acting as a focal point for technical support initiatives, DFM/DFA and SPC analysis focusing on sustaining and improving operational effectiveness of both current and future operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the focal point for Operations managers and Engineering interfacing with company technical experts, Programs, Quality, and Supply Chain.
2. Support internal and outsourced operations for SEPUK, acting as a focal for the sharing and development of best practices across the site and division as appropriate.
3. No budget responsibility but influence and input to capital expenditure decisions and OPEX recommendations.
4. Support construction of module-based strategic road maps proposing and justifying capital (machines, tooling, gauging, and plant) investment.
5. Initiate, develop, and execute process improvement (problem solving and technical innovation) through effective PFMEA assessment, championing effective industrialization of product, tools, machinery, and processes.
6. Lead process variation reduction activity and test yield improvement activities across operations (SPC).
7. Lead technical investigations through QRQC ensuring and implementing robust root cause analysis results and effective corrective/preventative actions.
8. Create, validate, and maintain production layouts, standard operations, and other configuration documents across the business.
9. Construct and issue manufacturing instructions (Layouts, etc.) and technical investigation reports/QRQC's.
10. Maintain special to process tool library, ensuring tool health is monitored and managed.
11. Conduct and initiate actions resulting from ergonomic reviews and risk assessments.
12. Pro-actively engage with Engineering, Programs, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams when leading or supporting process-based technical investigations, problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative action delivery.
13. Facilitate and provide effective technical support to internal and outsourced operations throughout the production process.
14. Identify opportunities for process improvement – initiating corrective and preventative actions.
15. Provide operator training as required.
16. Will be assigned to NPI projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Experience of working within a complex and dynamic component manufacturing engineering environment with NPI and continuous improvement experience preferred.
2. Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical, electronics, or production engineering.
3. Proven ability to lead technical investigations, engaging with multi-functional problem solving workshops.
4. Good analytical approach to problem solving.
5. Ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels.
6. Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and customers (internal/external).
7. Understanding of Statistical Process Control, Process FMEA's, and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
8. An ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations.
9. Working knowledge of legislative requirements including REACH, HSE, and DSEAR.
10. Computer literate (MS Office).
11. Must be able to lead and work effectively with a multi-disciplined team to tight deadlines.
12. Evidence of written English at interview stage. This will be through providing certification of a formal English or technical qualification studied in the UK or overseas in English. If this cannot be provided, you will be required to complete and pass an online SHL English comprehension test as part of the interview process.
