Alethiomics Ltd is a discovery stage biotech company harnessing the power of single cell multi-omic technology to discover and develop life changing treatments for patients with blood cancer. A spin-out from the University of Oxford, Alethiomics was co-founded in 2021 by Prof. Adam Mead and Prof Bethan Psaila, both academic clinicians and expert haematologists. The company is supported by life sciences investor Oxford Science Enterprises. This position is an opportunity to join our growing team, where you will have the ability to shape and grow the company by applying your scientific and technical expertise. The selected candidate will be responsible for an essential lab-based role supporting core experimental activities. Your work will be vital to the development of next-generation cancer therapies. To help us achieve our goal, we are looking for a passionate individual with experience in cell culture and a range of cell-based and biochemical assays.
The selected candidate will be engaged on a 12-month fixed term contract, with potential for the role to be made permanent after this time.
Time requirement: Full time employee, 37.5 hr/week

Key Responsibilities:
* Support our antibody and antibody drug conjugate discovery pipeline through profiling activity of molecules in cell based and in vitro assays.
* Perform tissue culture of cell lines and primary cells to develop in vitro models of disease.
* Use of different assay modalities such as flow cytometry and automated imaging.
* Analyse data, write up and report experimental details.
* Develop and optimise new assays and bring in new approaches through appraisal of scientific papers, working with collaborators and other team members.
Additional responsibilities:
* Participate in scientific discussions by presenting data and suggesting improvements to workflows.
* Analysis of data from internal and external data sources to support writing of reports and manuscripts.
* Contribute to the routine running of the laboratory, maintenance of equipment and adherence to applicable policies and procedures relating to working in the laboratory.
* Influence the longer-term operational strategy for the company.
Skills and Experience:
* BSc / MSc / PhD in Oncology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related discipline with 2+ years’ experience in a research laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
* Practical experience with sterile techniques and cell culture of an array of cancer cell lines.
* Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Cell-based assays for testing pharmacology of molecules (small or biological).
Development, optimisation and screening using biochemical assays e.g. ELISA and Western blotting.
Molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, PCR, qPCR.
Use of cell imaging or flow cytometry platforms.
Knowledge in cancer biology and related pathways.
Ability to analyse data using platforms such as R, FlowJo, CellProfiler, Knime, Prism.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent organisation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
* Willingness to think creatively and learn from others.
