This role is ideal for individuals with experience in healthcare, social care, or SEN support, who are committed to ensuring that students receive the care they need to thrive in a safe and inclusive environment. About the Role: As a School Health Care Support Worker, you will work closely with school staff to provide essential care and support for pupils with medical needs, disabilities, or special educational needs (SEN). Your role will involve ensuring students’ physical, emotional and medical well-being, allowing them to engage fully in their education. School Health Care Support Worker Responsibilities: Providing medical and personal care support to students with health conditions, disabilities, or SEN. Assisting pupils with medication management, mobility support and medical interventions, as required. Ensuring students’ hygiene, comfort and well-being, including assistance with toileting and feeding where necessary. Working alongside teachers and support staff to implement healthcare and individual education plans (IEPs). Monitoring students’ health and emotional needs, reporting any concerns to safeguarding leads. Promoting independence and confidence in students, encouraging their participation in school life. Supporting children during school activities, break times and transitions throughout the day. School Health Care Support Worker Job Requirements: Experience in healthcare, social care, SEN support, or school-based assistance is highly desirable. A compassionate, patient and proactive approach to supporting children. Strong understanding of safeguarding, medical protocols and child protection policies. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, liaising with teachers, parents and healthcare professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, calmly and reassuringly. Relevant qualifications in childcare, health and social care, first aid, or medical support are advantageous but not essential. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
