We are looking to appoint a Band 6 District Nurse into our friendly and supportive Brierley Hill District nursing team. You must have effective communication and negotiation skills.
As an advocate for our patients, you need to have the ability to inspire people at all levels. This post requires an understanding of the expanding role of community nursing and a commitment to take it forward. You will need a sound understanding of the current primary care agenda, with excellent communication skills and effective leadership and decision-making skills. You will be innovative and able to work autonomously while promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for team members and students. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in supporting the team leader.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder is responsible for the ongoing assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care.
The post holder will carry out all relevant forms of care and will take responsibility for caseload holders in their absence. The management of the work area and clinical caseload, including supervision and development of staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Education
* First level Registered Nurse
* Degree in District Nursing or equivalent (Specialist practitioner qualification in District Nursing)
* Evidence of continual professional development
* Must hold a Specialist Community Practitioner - District Nursing qualification and/or be registered as a V150/V300 nurse prescriber.
Knowledge and Training
* Demonstrate knowledge of research-based practice
* Have knowledge of major NHS issues
* Post-registration experience to include: Evidence of mentoring/Project working/Specialist training/Management and development of others
* Willing to undertake Band 6 competencies
* Good background knowledge of issues within the primary care area
Experience
* Experience of working in primary care and leading a community nursing team
* Experience of direct supervision of qualified and unqualified staff
* Experience of identifying the development needs of others and giving effective feedback.
* Experience of interagency and collaborative working
* Experience of teaching and assessing students
