Job summary We have a rare opportunity for a Speech & Language Therapy Team Leader to join our Medicine and Healthcare for Older People (HCOP) team at QEHB. Our service supports a wide range of patient cohorts who have communication and/or swallowing disorders including acute medicine, respiratory (including the respiratory support unit) and HCOP from the front door right through to discharge. We have a large yet close-knit, highly skilled team who contribute to our robust supervision structure. Innovation, participation in research and clinical/professional development are actively encouraged. We have a well-established SLT led Videofluoroscopy and FEES services so opportunities to access these instrumental assessments to help to shape your clinical practice would also be available. You would work closely with your peer SLT Team Leader, Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and NQP Speech and Language Therapists and assistants to provide an excellent level of care to our patient group. The successful candidate will have a clear passion in assessing and managing dysphagia and communication difficulties relating to the acute medicine and HCOP caseload in a fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: assessing and managing patients with swallowing and communication disorders on the acute medicine, respiratory, endocrinology and HCOP wards, including front-door services utilising or working towards advanced skills including tracheostomy and FEES service development and audit working closely with the MDT supervision and leadership training of junior colleagues and students working flexibly and thriving in a fast-paced environment We have a large team who share a caseload of diverse patient cohorts so being a team player is essential.
