Job Title: After School Club Manager
Reports to: Charity Trustees
Job Summary:
Holy Apostles Pavilion Group After School Club is expanding its current offering and is after an After School Club Manager to be responsible for the planning, organisation, and delivery of a safe, engaging, and active after school club for children in Years 2 to 6. You will be deputised by a Younger Years Lead who shall be responsible for the Reception and Y1 children within a separate location within the school grounds.
This role encompasses both the practical delivery of enriching activities and the efficient administration of the club. The manager will create a positive and inclusive environment where children can develop their social skills, participate in physical activities, and enjoy their time after school.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Activity Planning & Delivery:
• Plan and deliver a varied programme of engaging and active activities suitable for children aged 6-11 years (Years 2-6).
• Ensure activities are inclusive, catering to a range of abilities and interests.
• Promote physical activity, teamwork, and social interaction through games, sports, and other engaging activities.
• Prepare and set up activity areas, ensuring they are safe and well-organised.
• Lead and supervise children during activities, maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere.
• Adapt activities as needed based on children's feedback and engagement.
• Ensure all equipment is used safely and stored correctly.
2. Child Supervision & Welfare:
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children attending the club.
• Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Administer basic first aid when required and report any accidents or incidents promptly.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure children are signed in and out safely.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff.
• Address any behavioural issues in a calm and consistent manner.
3. Administration & Organisation:
• Manage the day-to-day running of the after school club, including registration, payments, and communication with parents.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, payments, and any relevant information.
• Order and maintain stock of equipment and resources.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding club activities, schedules, and any relevant information.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
• Handle parent enquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Manage booking systems and waiting lists.
• Create and distribute any relevant club documentation.
• Manage, Update and Create After School Club Policies, Processes and Risk Assessments.
4. Teamwork & Communication:
• Work collaboratively with existing staff and other after school club assistants.
• Attend relevant training and meetings as required.
• Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the after school club.
Person Specification:
• Experience working with children aged 6-11 years.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging and active activities.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and first aid (or willingness to obtain).
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., childcare, sports coaching) are desirable.
• First aid certification.
• Safeguarding training.
Desirable Qualities:
• Experience in a similar role.
• Early Years Experience & Qualification
• A passion for promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Start Date: Summer Term 2025 – 28th April
Salary: £14 - £14.50ph subject to experience
Location: Cheltenham
Working Hours: 17 hours per week during school term times (excludes school holidays)
