The role
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll be focused on project quality and be working on quality management plans and test plans linked to multiple contracts, ensuring business compliance. The key focus of this role is to support the delivery of one of our most important contracts on time, to the right quality, and to the planned cost.
Day-to-day, you will provide advice, guidance, and support to the business on all matters related to quality, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.
* Represent the customer’s interests and help maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Liaise regularly with the customer quality representative.
* Provide quality input and advice through the product lifecycle.
* Identify quality risks and work to mitigate, manage, and escalate to programme leadership.
* Oversee progress and sign-off on the completion of the delivery process to assure the customer that their requirements have been met.
* Quality planning in production and supply chain to drive a Right-First-Time culture.
* Lead investigations into quality escapes, managing through to preventative action using suitable tools and techniques.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days in the office/onsite and 2/3 days working from home depending on business needs.
Experience of the Senior Quality Engineer
* Quality assurance background with considerable practical, hands-on experience and familiarity with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
* Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial.
* Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organization.
* Experience of auditing quality AS9100 management systems – Desirable.
* An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques.
* Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement tools.
Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer
* Membership of a recognized quality institute – Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained).
* ISO9001-2015 internal auditor – Desirable (Babcock can support you through this if not already obtained).
* Experience working in quality within a manufacturing environment – Desirable.
* Aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industry experience – Desirable.
