AEC Kedron is currently seeking experienced and dedicated Emergency Veterinary Nurses to join our dynamic team. As an Emergency Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and compassionate care. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for emergency and critical care are essential.
Both Part-time and Full-time opportunities are available.
Responsibilities:
* Emergency Patient Care: Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department.
* Triage and Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions.
* Monitoring: Utilise advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
* Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
* Client Communication: Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis.
* Medical Procedures: Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols.
* Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in emergency and critical care medicine through ongoing training and professional development.
Skills / Qualifications:
* Minimum 3+ years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing.
* Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring.
* Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is advantageous.
* Ability to work well and adapt quickly to challenges in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners.
