Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Configuration Manager means engaging in a diverse and growing array of UK-based projects. This role offers the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of their lifecycle, from client consultancy to delivering comprehensive engineering design solutions. Your responsibilities will include client interaction, preparing bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM's standards for quality, safety, and environmental care.
Our established multi-disciplinary nuclear SQEP team, based across the UK, has been delivering fit-for-purpose solutions across the full spectrum of the nuclear sector for over 50 years. We understand that the nuclear sector is unique, with the utmost need for safety and a critical requirement to manage a myriad of potential risks.

Here’s what you’ll do:
The Configuration Manager is a new role within the AECOM Nuclear business and is being introduced to support configuration management throughout the whole life cycle as part of the systems engineering function.
Responsibilities include:
* Lead the identification and management of CIs, enhancing the overall Configuration Management framework.
* Support the identification of requirements to ensure effective CM performance of partners and suppliers.
* Responsible for the establishment & maintenance of configuration baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL), including organising and running Change Control Boards (CCBs) with appropriate Senior Engineering. Ensure design change is traceable throughout design and implementation.
* Development and maintenance of Configuration Management Strategy; including configuration status, monitoring, accounting and audits.
* Plan and conduct configuration verifications and configuration audits (PCA & FCA).
* Manage comprehensive documentation library of all related processes and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency. Ensure compliance with all risk, data and overarching governance requirements.
* Interface with client specialist teams, remotely and directly on-site.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
This position is suited to a skilled engineer with appropriate experience looking to work within a team but have a level of autonomy. There is also opportunity to expand into more of a leadership and mentoring role.
Requirements include:
* Experience in the design, implementation, support, and enhancement of Configuration Management activities in large projects.
* Qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or a related field. A degree is preferred, but relevant professional certifications will also be considered.
* Chartered Engineer, or on the path to Chartered status with an appropriate institute.
* Currently SC cleared or able to meet SC requirements.
* Experience in highly regulated industries – Defence, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear.
* Experience and a full understanding of Systems Engineering, the V-model and associated processes/lifecycles.
* Experience of developing high quality requirements and establishing compliant system design.
* Experience in writing high quality technical documentation and formal review of technical documentation.
* Knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, methodologies, processes, techniques, and technology trends e.g. SEBoK, INCOSE practices, NASA System Engineering, PLM tools.
