We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Facilities Shift Engineer to join an established "Turnkey" M&E specialist based in London.
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 pa (Permanent)
THE ROLE:
The Facilities department is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities. This function plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labour, materials, and other related costs.
The facilities function designs organisational policies relevant to the facilities department and develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
Job Scope
To carry out monitoring and inspection of critical plant areas, essential for site operation. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Repairs on both Mechanical and Electrical systems, and equipment as a member of the on-site facilities team at Data Centre in Basingstoke.
Key Responsibilities
1. The facilities engineer is responsible for installation and maintenance of environmental systems to include, but not limited to: Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, Fire Detection and suppression systems, Building Management System (BMS) for energy and environmental controls, and emergency backup.
2. Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive incidents are carried out on all Critical Data Centre assets through operation of the Planned Preventative Maintenance System.
3. Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are kept pertaining to Health & Safety, Building Compliance, and Quality.
4. Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer sub-contractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out.
5. To operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Health & Safety.
6. Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to always maintain plant in serviceable condition.
7. Submit incident tickets and track progress to completion while liaising directly with the client.
8. Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance of the above.
9. Overview the buildings' environmental conditions using the BMS System and utilise the same to maintain acceptable internal conditions.
10. Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared, reviewed, and utilised for all tasks (PPM's and reactive) carried out to ensure safe working.
11. To maintain & develop good client relationships.
12. Ensure the provision of a Safe & Healthy working environment.
13. Ensure a professional image is always presented to clients.
14. Ensure assigned tasks are actioned and completed as appropriate, including the utilisation of the shift engineers to ensure the task is suitably completed.
15. Ensure an awareness and compliance to KPI's/SLA's.
16. Ensure the CAFM system, e.g., Asset Essentials is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
17. Drive continuous improvement in operations, cost, and quality.
18. Analyse data and identify trends with facility issues to determine root cause and take appropriate actions.
19. Ad-hoc tasks as directed by the facilities management.
Qualifications
1. Recognised Electrical qualification
2. Recognised Mechanical qualification
3. IEE 18th Edition
4. C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent)
5. Safe Handling of relevant materials
6. General technical and functional knowledge of data centre and/or lab infrastructure to include electrical and mechanical systems, fire detection and protection systems, planned maintenance systems, building management systems, equipment maintenance, space planning, and construction of critical facilities environments.
