We’re looking for an experienced project manager to join our team in delivering development sites for a range of housing tenures. This includes new builds across social and affordable rent, rent to buy, shared ownership and open market sales. You’ll play a key role in driving projects in line with our development strategy, ensuring an exceptional experience for both our internal and external customers. If you have a passion for construction and housing development, we’d love to hear from you!
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be just what you’re looking for!
What we’re all about
With around 20,000 homes (and more in the pipeline), we’re on track with our growth plan to build 8,000 new homes across Yorkshire. We’re dedicated to creating exceptional customer experiences along the way and are on a mission to build a culture that prioritises excellence, innovation, and customer obsession.
This role is crucial to the success of our development strategy, as you will be actively managing and coordinating the activities of Consultants, Contractors, and Internal Teams to ensure that each development meets specifications, quality standards, regulations, and financial limits, all while staying within Yorkshire Housing’s risk profile.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for managing scheme budgets of up to £50m, ensuring monthly valuations are certified in line with contractual terms. Your collaboration with the Land Team at the scheme conception stage will help identify potential improvements or challenges, ensuring the long-term viability of the projects. Additionally, you will provide key analytical reports to the Executive Directors, Board, and Committees, and oversee the selection and appointment of professional services, including architects, engineers, solicitors, and more. By measuring performance indicators for contractors and consultants, you will drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across all development projects, playing a central role in delivering on our strategic goals.
Reporting to our Senior Project Manager, you’ll work as part of a small Project Management Team and will have line management responsibility for our Development Assistant. You’ll be working on exciting projects across the whole of Yorkshire, so be prepared to travel around this beautiful region. We’ll provide you with a car allowance to help with your travel, and you’ll have the autonomy to manage your own diary. This means you’ll have the flexibility to work from home when you’re not on-site, giving you the perfect balance of independent work and the freedom to plan your time efficiently.
This role will occasionally require you to work outside of usual office hours, including evenings and weekends, to ensure projects stay on track. You’ll also need the flexibility to respond to emergency calls outside of regular hours when needed. A full UK driver’s license is required to ensure you can travel when needed and manage these occasional out-of-hours demands.
Who are we looking for?
The answer is simple - if you are hardworking, driven and ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you. You’ll bring a methodical approach, be able to build great relationships with site teams and not to be afraid to ask those difficult questions.
The rest would also be great too –
* Proven experience managing complex development programs and substantial budgets, while building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., QS, Architect, Contractor).
* Expertise in construction project management and housing development, particularly in managing new build housing schemes.
* Strong construction and technical knowledge, including a thorough understanding of JCT’s, Building Regulations and other relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with Yorkshire Housing values.
* Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and specialist software (Proval, Sequel).
* Ability to interpret building plans and drawings, with a focus on continuous personal development.
* Strong focus on value for money, efficiency, and driving transformational change.
What’s in it for you…
