Operations Manager Plastics manufacturing Based in Blaenwau Gwent, South Wales Job ref: CST/63929 Salary: Attractive and commensurate with experience The Company: Part of an international group, our client is a reputable and well established SME that manufactures raw materials for the plastics industry. The business has benefitted from recent investment and is well positioned for growth. Overview: Accountable for managing all aspects of the Operation, including Manufacturing, H&S, Maintenance, Warehouse, Supply Chain. The factory operates on a 24 x 5 basis. This is a hands-on role leading, coaching and mentoring the team to drive the business forward to improve all aspects of continuous improvement, safety and environmental performance, product and process quality, manufacturing costs, customer service levels and people performance. The Role: Ensure a high standard of safety exists across all aspects of the site. Create an effective manufacturing structure. Drive and support a culture of continuous improvement activities throughout the plant. Improve manufacturing systems through hands-on leadership to increase plant efficiency and customer service. Manage production resources effectively to meet both the day to day needs of the business and the future strategic business plan. Defining performance management KPI’s to monitor operational success against objectives. Work alongside other members of the business-on-business projects. Drive the maintenance team towards a planned maintenance culture vs reactive. Have in place improvement plans / projects to improve efficiencies, output, customer service and waste reduction. Application of lean tools to aid business profitability. Set expectations for the operations team and provide performance feedback. Develop manufacturing personnel through training and support. Provide leadership and coaching programmes to increase employee effectiveness Person Profile: Track record of managing a factory Experience of plastics is an advantage but not essential Qualifications in engineering/technical discipline Commercial awareness with an eye for seeing business improvement opportunities. Excellent stakeholder management skills and an ability to communicate complex business ideas. Highly motivated with a passion for driving operational business change.
