Our client, an independent, family-owned company, are seeking a Thoroughbred Specialist with a true passion for racing and breeding to join their dedicated team of Thoroughbred Specialists.
The role is 100% Thoroughbred orientated and an in-depth knowledge, understanding of the Thoroughbred racing, breeding industry are essential, with a minimum of five years related practical thoroughbred experience.
The primary focus is to establish and maintain a presence in the designated markets, expand market share with existing clients and prospective new business development, build awareness of the brand values by offering the finest nutritional solutions, a very personal level of customer service and supportive relationships to their clients, trainers, and stud managers.
Celebrating an exclusive 20-year partnership with a well-respected international equine nutrition research company, our client delivers the very latest equine nutrition, product development backed by science, unique expertise in feed formulation, ingredient technology and technical support.
A crucial aspect of this position involves traveling within Lambourn, known as "The Valley of the Racehorse," and the adjacent regions of South West England. The role requires communication and delivery of the brand's distinctive products and services to both existing and potential clients at racing yards and breeding stud operations.

As part of the initial training induction, this will include role shadowing, office-based training and activities outside of the South West region.
Essential Candidate skills and responsibilities:
* An in-depth knowledge, understanding of the Thoroughbred racing, breeding operation industry are essential.
* Minimum five years of related practical thoroughbred experience.
* Highly motivated, enterprising with a driven work ethic and commitment to the brand.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to further the awareness of the brand and services offered.
* Active and genuinely interested in being involved in their client’s racing, breeding activities. Evening stable visits, sales, racing events.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, verbal, and written skills.
* Ability to network and influence decision makers.
* Active, tactical, ambitious, confident, but measured and strategic in their approach.
* Be prepared to invest considerable time into seeking potential new opportunities.
* Technology literate with strong organisational, administrative skills to manage and plan a busy schedule.
* Work on your own initiative but also as part of the team, interchangeable depending on the circumstances.
* A self-starter with industry insight and awareness, willing to take calculated risks.
* Eager and ready to help solve problems and find solutions, both within the business and for their clients.
* Able to contribute to the development and coordination of marketing, media activities alongside the company’s creative agency.
