Job overview
Applications are invited for a part-time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry (2.5PAs), based within our Department of Prosthodontics, to start at the earliest opportunity. This is a substantive post to support direct patient care, predominantly via clinical supervision (both surgical and non-surgical). The emphasis will be on the planning and provision of complex restorative surgical procedures. The role will also involve elements of didactic teaching and training of specialty trainees in Restorative Dentistry and its Mono-specialties.
The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join a well-established team in providing a wide range of Prosthodontics and restorative services, postgraduate training, and possibly research. Applicants will be expected to have extensive surgical experience within this field, excellent communication and leadership skills, evidence of working with multidisciplinary teams, along with considerable and demonstrable experience in postgraduate level teaching, training, and clinical supervision (both surgical and non-surgical).
Candidates should ideally be on the Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics at the time of application.

Main duties of the job
University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry/Prosthodontics. The post holder will have a commitment to high-quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.
The post is for a 2.5PA appointment in the Department of Prosthodontics, Restorative Division, at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital (RNENT and ED Hospital, UCLH).
The post-holder(s) will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care, putting the patient first in line with the Trust core values. They will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry as a whole, with a specific interest and demonstrable experience in implantology (including highly complex surgical and prosthodontic elements) as well as both conventional and adhesive treatment and management of multidisciplinary cases.
The post-holder will also be expected to be dynamic, approachable, and have considerable experience and enthusiasm for teaching and training. They will play a key role in the clinical supervision & training of specialist trainees and postgraduates.
They should demonstrate evidence of both team working and leadership skills, as well as having excellent communication skills and drive for service development.

Person specification
Professional Qualifications and Training
* Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
* On the GDC’s Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics.
* Successful completion of an SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics.
* Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Restorative Dentistry at date of interview
* NB: Non UK trained doctors must be on the GDC register and Specialist Register in Restorative Dentistry by date of interview.
* BDS or equivalent
* MSc or equivalent
* Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent.
* M Clin Dent or Membership in Endodontics/Periodontics/Prosthodontics
Clinical Experience
* Considerable experience in the management of patients with multidisciplinary treatment needs, within restorative dentistry and via other disciplines in dentistry.
* Proficient and competent in undertaking a range of clinical procedures both non-surgical and surgical in the field of Prosthodontics and restorative Dentistry.
* Significant experience of working within multidisciplinary teams
Clinical Skills
* Able to diagnose and treat patients with advanced restorative/prosthodontic treatment needs.
* Proficiency in both fixed (conventional and adhesive) and removable prosthodontics at advanced level/complexity
* Highly proficient and competent in undertaking implant surgery and related surgical procedures independently including bone augmentation (GBR)
* Highly skilled and experienced in independently planning and undertaking advanced surgical procedures to facilitate implant/prosthodontic treatment including external sinus lifts, bone grafting, crown lengthening etc.
* Proficient in prosthodontic implant rehabilitation of high complexity/multidisciplinary cases
* Familiarity and competence with digital workflows in dentistry
Clinical Knowledge
* Knowledge of the theoretical basis of Restorative Dentistry including dental implants
* Effective application of evidence-based practice in clinical management of patients
* Application and analysis including self-reflective practice on treatment outcomes
* Knowledge and understanding of the Restorative Dentistry and implant interface and its relevance to treatment outcomes
* Understanding and application of evidence base in terms of prosthodontic patients
