Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking two dedicated and experienced Bricklayers and Roofers to join our Responsive & Planned Repairs Team. The successful candidates will report directly to the Site Agent and will be responsible for emergency repairs, general repairs, and planned maintenance for tenanted properties within the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Repairs and Maintenance: Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment to council properties as instructed by the relevant site agent or planning team members.
2. Project Management: Manage and coordinate multiple repair and maintenance projects in tenanted properties, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
3. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and implementing necessary safety measures.
4. Quality Control: Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure all repairs and maintenance meet the required quality standards and tenant satisfaction.
5. Communication: Liaise effectively with Contract Holders, providing clear updates on project timelines and addressing any concerns promptly. Maintain regular communication with the Site Agent and other members of the organisation.
6. Resource Management: Plan and allocate resources efficiently, including materials, equipment, and labour. Monitor project budgets and ensure cost-effective service delivery.
7. Risk Management: Identify and manage potential risks associated with projects, implementing strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
8. Mentoring: Accept responsibility for the mentoring of apprentices, trainees, or other employees as assigned. Contribute to the employee development programme and appraisals.
9. Documentation: Accurately complete all documentation (electronic) associated with the duties of a Bricklayer and Roofer across all areas of housing repairs and ensure prompt completion of all necessary paperwork.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in Bricklaying or a related field.
2. Experience: Proven experience in managing repair and maintenance projects in occupied residential properties. Strong knowledge of building methods, regulations, and health & safety standards.
3. Skills: Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
4. Professional Development: Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with industry best practices.
5. Licences: Full valid driving licence is essential.
Desirable:
1. Advanced Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / Advanced City and Guilds.
2. Professional Membership: Membership of a Professional Institution relevant to the post, such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
3. CSCS Card: Current CSCS Card is desirable.
