Job Overview The Department is looking to appoint a fellow who has experience in intensive care medicine in the UK (being ready to start straight away on the out-of-hours resident junior ICU rota) as well as experience in anaesthesia in the UK or abroad. If the previous anaesthesia experience has not taken place in the UK, then a period of familiarisation in the form of the Initial Assessment of Competence will be undertaken with the successful candidate prior to any out-of-hours duties on the anaesthesia resident junior rota. The fellow will take part in the on-call rota on a one-in-eight pattern. Every 24 weeks, there will be an additional weekend of daytime shifts on the intensive care unit. The nature of the out of hours work will depend upon the unit of training that the fellow is currently undertaking to include theatres, obstetrics, and intensive care. The resident anaesthetists are expected to work as a team and are supported by a consultant on call for anaesthetics as well as a consultant on call for the intensive care unit. The post is initially for a year with scope to extend with mutual consent, and commences February 2025. Please contact Dr Elizabeth Combeer, elizabeth.combeernhs.net, for more information.
