Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Acute Oncology Service (AOS) as a Band 7 Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP). The AOS team aims to provide seamless care for our service users where we provide prompt reviews of our patients by assessing them when they present for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency cancer care. Patients who are able to access the service will have a formal cancer diagnosis and will be experiencing complications of their treatment, their disease or both. The team covers both Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) and immunotherapy complications. The AOS team are also key providers of the AOS emergency advice line and work alongside the ACP's. This aspect is fundamental to the service delivery and one of the prompt ways in which patterns have direct access to receiving high quality telephone triage and allow for direct admission into our assessment area. You will be enrolled on a fully funded Masters Level Academic pathway during your training and this study would take place alongside clinical work. The MSc programme takes approximately 3 years to complete and provides trainees with the essential education required for the role. Following completion you will present your portfolio to a select panel for sign off to then progress to the Band 8a ACP (job description attached). The clinical role will be on-site and involve cross site working to Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. Main duties of the job On a day to day basis you'll work within the team to learn how to assess, diagnose and treat patients who attend following triage by the emergency advice line or by referral from pre-hospital healthcare professionals, primary care or the emergency department. As a tACP you are expected to work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice as outlines in the HEE Multi-professional framework (2017). Throughout the training programme you will be assigned to a nominated qualified ACP for clinical support and supervision. This role is full time, however we would accept a minimum of 30 hours per week. The service currently operates 5 days a week 8am-6pm. Please note the forward plan is to expand the hours and operation of the service to include 7 day working, including weekends and bank holidays.
