Dakota Hotels are coming to Newcastle city centre in early 2025 and are looking for a strong team leader with the highest standards of cleanliness for the role of Assistant Housekeeping M anager. The start date for this role will be 17th February 2025, with interviews taking place from January 2025. CONTRACT AND PAY RATE The gross annual salary is £31,000. The role carries a permanent contract of a minimum of 37.5 hours per week and typical shifts will be working any 5 days out of 7, this role will include working weekends. PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Work with meticulous attention to detail when checking standards of cleanliness, and oversee that all 118 bedrooms, public areas and events spaces are in accordance with brand standards. Assist the Housekeeping Manager to carry out HR tasks such onboarding and developing your team; implementing New Start Training Plans, holding reviews and appraisals, carrying out return to work interviews, and providing daily guidance. Working closely with the Maintenance Team to maintain the highest standards ensuring that the whole building is aesthetically well-maintained. To run the department in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager, including opening and closing down the department. Help to maintain strong communication links and effective coordination with other departments, particularly maintenance and reception, and work with proactive forethought regarding the operation of the entire hotel. Work with the, and in absence of the Housekeeping manager to schedule a departmental rota in line with budgeted payroll costs and forecasted room sales, whilst managing holiday usage. Manage the stock levels of linen and bedroom consumables to ensure brand standards are upheld at all times. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS The successful applicant will have/be: A minimum of four years hotel and/or cleaning working experience. A minimum of one years experience in a managerial role. Strong leadership skills and experience in supervising or managing a team. Working experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Excellent attention to detail with a passion for upholding the highest standards of cleanliness. Have a working knowledge of health and safety guidelines and practices, particularly COSHH regulations. An established and confident leader, who works to motivate and develop your team. Have strong training skills. Hands-on approach to all aspects of the role, willing and able to support our team through all tasks necessary within the operation. Be able to be physically active in your role, standing for much of your shift checking rooms, and working at pace. An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity. Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail. Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of our business.
